MEDEA

Medea is a classic Greek tragedy written by Euripides which follows the plot of a woman scorned by her husband through adultery. In response to his evil doing, prior to her exile, Medea ruins his bloodline by murdering the two children she bore him, the ruler of Corinth, and her husband’s young new bride.

Taetum Sinclair was the Costume Designer for the MSU Theatre production of Medea in the Spring of 2025.

Sinclair was nominated through her work on this production for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival.

Through the creation process she was given the task of creating a world with no specific time or place and she executed this through a careful combination of costume building and styling for the cast of 12. Spending over twenty hours hand beading the blood stain on Medea’s under belt, which is can be seen toward the end of the production, Sinclair cultivated new skills through this work while practicing her knowledge in areas such as drafting, sewing, and hand stitching.
